Nastalgic Remake
October 28, 2004 at 9:58 am AST by Rodney MacLeod

There have been a lot of old TV shows remade into Movies lately, Flintstones, Adams Family, and Starsky and Hutch to name a few. In the making are A-team, and Bewitched. For the most part these remakes have been successful. Now why not redirect this success back at the TV and make a TV show that is remakes of older shows.

This would be a weekly (or almost weekly) show like any other TV show, except that the show would actually change from week to week. One week they would have a remake of Three's Company and the next week it could be All in the Family. The show would only be a half an hour long, but it could have remakes of hour long dramas like the Dukes of Hazzard, or Dallas and they could even do live action remakes of cartoons like the Jetsons or the Simpsons. It would not have to be a different remake each week. Sometimes the same remake could have a three or four week run.

Parlez Vous Francais?
October 27, 2004 at 11:04 am AST by Rodney MacLeod

It turns out Canada is bilingual and I am not. Well I always knew people spoke French, but to up until last weekend all I ever really saw was the ocassional person in Moncton, or the people in the west end of PEI who speak sopmething resembling French. When I was in Inkerman (northern New Brunswick) last weekend I found myself in a community that was French.

I knew NB was bilingual and I knew that northern NB was primarily French speaking, but for some reason I had this thought in the back of my head that they spoke English every day and just spoke French recreationally. I knew I was wrong before I went to Inkerman, but I did not realize how wrong I was.

Throne Away from Home
October 26, 2004 at 11:27 am AST by Rodney MacLeod

Dennis and I once talked about putting together a book rating bathrooms. I think someone actually published one since then. Well I was in New Brunswick this past weekend with my girlfriend and her family and we stopped off at Fred's in Cap Pele on the way home. The bathroom at Fred's was one of the best I have ever been in and it reminded me of the book idea. Instead of writing a book that would not sell I decided to rate them here in my blog.

The bathroom at Fred's was spotless, the urinal did not have any of yellow pee stains anywhere. It was spacious; you would not have to awkwardly shuffle by a stranger. It had three uinals and two stalls. It was an automated bathroom. I know there are lots of automated bathrooms, some have urinals that flush automatically, some have sensors at the sink, and others have sensors for the blow dryer. A lot of the times these do not work very well and you have to wave your hands under them to get them started just to have them turn off in three seconds. Well this place had all three and they worked. There were no sensors for the soap dispensor or for the toilet, but I don't think I have ever seen either before. I give this bathroom a 4 out of 5.

If you have found any great bathrooms, or any dismal bathrooms let us know. It is nice to know what you are getting into before you relieve yourself.

Almost Famous
October 22, 2004 at 4:10 pm AST by Rodney MacLeod

Along the same lines of the last post. What about actors that peaked long ago that you see pop up in a TV show or movie today? I recently saw Cockroach from The Cosby Show on George Lopez, and I remember seeing Denny, also from The Cosby Show, with a role in Johnny Q. Those guys from The Cosby Show keep popping up everywhere, Theo appeared on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Olivia has her own show now, That's So Raven.

Before They Were Famous
October 22, 2004 at 3:39 pm AST by Rodney MacLeod

I was eating lunch and watching SCTV today and saw Robin Williams guest starring. I also saw Rob Reiner this weekend making a guest appearance on the Beverly Hillbillies. I alway like watching an old television show and recognising an actor from before they were famous, or made it really big.

Who remembers seeing Theo Huxtible hanging out with Adam Sandler on the Cosby Show, James Carey hanging out with the Wayans brothers on In Living Color, Leonardo DiCaprio on Growing Pains, or George Clooney on both The Facts of Life and Rosanne.

Who do you remember seeing before they became big?

For a Million Dollars
October 22, 2004 at 10:34 am AST by Kent MacLeod

Here is the situation. A man or woman introduces himself or herself to you. They say, for 1 million dollars, right now will you run across Canada. You have as long as you want and all your expenses will be paid, but you start right now. As soon as you say yes you have to start running. It does not matter which way you go, you just have to start. Whether you have sneakers or slippers on, clothes or no clothes, it does not matter, you have to go. Your journey will be taped and edited by the TV station in which the lady or gentleman works for. What do you say?

Great Marketing
October 20, 2004 at 2:16 pm AST by Rodney MacLeod

I have never been a fan of baseball. The last time I watched a baseball game was when the Blue Jays won the World Series, and even then I only watched the last couple of innings of the last couple of games.

I now find myself watching baseball again, and it is all because of this curse. I want to see this curse broke. I watched Sundays game go into extra innings, but not the extra innings. I watched from the tenth inning to the end of the game Monday night, and I might watch some of tonights game too.
